Chikankari
Folklore suggests that this delicate embroidery was introduced by Nur-Jehan, the wife of Mughal emperor Jehangir. Chikan work is tastefully done on a variety of fabrics including muslin, cotton, silk, chiffon and organza that are easy to embroider on. Traditionally white thread was used for this work but nowadays there are variants in coloured threads as well. The process involves printing various patterns like floral designs on cloth followed by filling it in with threadwork.
