Block Print

Block printing is an age-old Indian tradition that involves using engraved wooden blocks to create beautiful patterns on fabric. The blocks are soaked in mustard oil to ensure that the wood doesn't crack. The blocks are dipped in a dye-resistant mud paste made of black earth, tree gum and wheat grain powder, dipped into a coloured dye and then stamped onto the fabric. Once dry, the fabric is dyed and left to dry. The final result is a beautiful print that ranges from floral designs to animals and more.
